The Prayer Torch Challenge

On July 1, we’re launching our own torch in Clitheroe, Whalley, Waddington, Chatburn and Paythorne.  It will travel from home to home until Christmas to encourage people to pray together in their home.

Here’s the challenge:

  • Pray together as a family 4 times in a week or fortnight (whatever’s easiest for you).
  • Write about two of your family prayer time experiences in the Family Prayer Journal.
  • If you feel comfortable, take a photo of your family with the prayer torch and email it to Rachel  to be posted on the Family blog.
  • Pass on the torch to the next family.

Prayer helps us get to know God better, and it can also help us feel closer together as a family too. A lot of people feel that prayer is difficult, but the good news is that it doesn’t have to be. When we pray, God doesn’t mind if we use fancy words- or even if we use words at all! You can sing, write, draw, dance,  think quietly… whatever makes you feel comfortable. We hope that this experience will help you learn more about yourselves as a family, about God’s love for you, and about how prayer can make a difference in your lives.

Along with the torch, when it’s your week you’ll be given a resource pack full of ideas to help encourage your family prayer time.

Are you up to the challenge?  Contact Rachel to book a slot and take the prayer torch home.
